Why You Should Consider Digital Art As An Investment
Digital art is a type of art that is created or presented using digital technology, and often times it is thought of as not being art because the artist does not need to use traditional mediums to create their work. There are many different types of digital art and each has its own unique qualities that make it worth considering for artists & investors.
These are some examples of digital painting using different styles.
The first digital art work was created in 1967 by Americans Kenneth Knowlton and Leon Harmon. They used their skills to create a computer-generated work of art known as "Computer Nude (Studies in Perception I)." They scanned a photograph of choreographer Deborah Hay and stored the information as a series of pulses with the brightness level represented by numbers. The computer processed the numbers and printed out a drawing composed of symbols commonly found in electronic design. Technology has obviously advanced a lot since then!
I love painting, I love getting my brushes & paints out and immersing myself into the process. I didn't go to art school, I'm a self-taught artist and I'm proud to be able to paint and draw realistically as well as playfully with watercolour, oil, acrylic & digital paint. Last year I got an iPad, mainly because I wanted to create more and paint without being worried about "ruining" expensive art supplies, and for me having an iPad has been a game changer, because now I can paint and draw everywhere without having to carry lots of things around. Of course the magic of analogue painting is real, and I don't see myself turning into just a digital artist, but in the end I'm a creative and I love experimenting with different mediums, including non-traditional ones!
Here there are some of my analogue and digital artworks. They all required a lot of my skills, time and effort.
Although many digital artists put as much effort and time into their digital art as 'traditional artists', some people think and say that digital art is not art, that having digital tools makes the whole process easy and/or the computer does all the work for you. Something like: "iPad, draw what's in my mind!", and ten seconds later it's ready... But the truth is that to make digital art, like traditional art forms, requires skill, talent, originality, knowledge and effort.
There are many talented artists out there who are using digital media to create beautiful works of art and it often starts off as a rough sketch on a piece of paper. Once it is finalized, the artist can export it to a computer or other digital medium for further editing and manipulation. This allows for more creative freedom than traditional artwork because there is no limit to how much you can change or add to the original work. Additionally, digital art can be created in almost any format imaginable, making it suitable for both personal and commercial use.
Digital art has been around for quite some time now, but has only in recent years become more popular and accessible. There are many reasons why anyone should consider investing on digital art, but the most important is that the same as traditional art, It has the ability to evoke emotion, and to brighten a place. It can also help people connect with each other through shared experiences as you can get art from someone that lives in the other side of the world and print it locally. In addition, digital art has the potential to be educational and inspire creativity in others. The real question is - why not consider investing in it?
